This yearly gathering brings together the people who work on our sites every day around one shared conviction: safety is not an option, it is a way of working.
At Kolos, safety lies at the heart of our values.
is a commitment that extends beyond our own employees to every partner who works alongside us. A healthy and safe workplace can only be built with partners who share the same high standards.
Hosted by Sean André, Head of Sales and Marketing, the meeting featured three speakers. Rishta Rajiah, QHSE & Sustainability Manager, outlined the safety and environmental rules on the Kolos site, from mandatory induction to personal protective equipment.
Jeetendrao Esram, Procurement and Treasury Manager, showed how safety is written into every contract. PwC then presented the legal framework in Mauritius, from the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005 to contract law.
At the heart of the discussions were the five Kolos cardinal rules, which apply to every person on our sites:
- 1. Never override or interfere with any safety provision, nor allow anyone else to do so.
- 2. Always adhere to the personal protective equipment (PPE) rules applicable to each task.
- 3. Always follow isolation and lock-out procedures.
- 4. Never work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- 5. Report every injury and incident immediately.
Any breach of these rules leads to exclusion from the Kolos site. A firm requirement, in line with our shared objective: zero accidents.
said Rishta Rajiah, QHSE & Sustainability Manager.
More than a presentation, the Contractor Safety Meeting is a true moment of exchange. Questions, lessons learned, real situations from the field: each contractor was able to share their perspective, because prevention is shaped by the experience of those on the front line.
Building the Mauritius of tomorrow starts with making sure everyone gets home safely, every evening. Kolos thanks all its contractors for their presence and commitment, and continues, alongside them, to build a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility.
