Over the course of the week, employees were encouraged to take time for themselves, to learn, to undergo health screenings and to focus on their overall well-being, in a supportive and inclusive environment. The objective was clear: to reinforce safe behaviours while highlighting the role of physical and mental balance in risk prevention.
The week began with a launch session stressing the importance of daily vigilance and collective responsibility in maintaining a safe workplace. This was followed by a series of preventive actions, including vision screening, dental check-ups, and a well-being session that combined meditation, breathing exercises, relaxation and laughter.
“Safety Week reflects Kolos’ long-term commitment to the health, safety and well-being of its employees. A high-performing work environment depends first and foremost on people who are protected, healthy and aware of safety issues, both at work and in their everyday lives,” says Rishta Rajiah, Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental (QHSE) & Sustainability Manager at Kolos.
Beyond the activities themselves, the initiative sparked meaningful reflection among participants. For Shaheena Lallbeeharry, accountant, the health screenings prompted a reassessment of certain lifestyle habits. Rajeev Rajcoomar, Production Supervisor, highlighted the importance of regular check-ups in identifying potential health issues early, particularly in an industrial setting.
Kolos also extended its awareness efforts beyond the workplace by engaging employees’ families through a children’s drawing competition on the theme “Happy Kids in a School Environment”. The initiative aimed to promote values such as kindness, respect, teamwork and well-being from a young age.
Through Safety Week 2026, Kolos reaffirms that safety and well-being are not one-off initiatives, but ongoing commitments. A people-first approach that strengthens prevention, responsibility and balance, and contributes to a safer, healthier and more sustainable working environment.
